Glaciers are large ice masses that form on land over time.

They move over time, and act as bulldozers, moving sediment across land!

Picture a giant bob the builder plowing ice for miles

What are Glaciers?

Develop and form at a central point on flat land. They move across large areas of land as thick ice sheets.

They continually spread out!

Continental Glaciers

Continual snowfall at high elevations form these, and move through mountains.

​Gravity moves them downhill from higher elevation.

Horn - Pyramid peak formed by glacial erosion.

Cirque - Bowl shaped valley, beginning of glacier.

Arete - Long ridges from the flow of two Glaciers.

Till - Sediment carrier by the Glacier.

Esker - Ridge of sediment formed from streams.

Kame - Mound or hill formed by sediment.

Kettle Lake - Lake formed from buried ice that melts.
