Air Mass

Air mass- a large body of air that has about the same temperature, air pressure, and moisture throughout.

Air mass that form near the equator are warmer.

Air masses that form near the poles are cold.

Air masses that form over oceans are moist.

3

Front

A front is where two air masses meet.

Warm front, cold front, and stationary front

4

Cold Front

cold front forms when a cold air mass pushes into a warmer air mass. Cold fronts can produce dramatic changes in the weather. ... As the cold front passes, winds become gusty.

They bring heavy rain or snow. Cold fronts move fast, so storms pass quickly.

5

Warm Front

A warm front forms where a warm air mass moves over a cold air mass.

Warm fronts bring rain or snow that CAN LAST FOR HOURS.

6

L= Low Pressure

•Low-pressure systems are associated with clouds and precipitation that minimize temperature changes throughout the day

SAD WEATHER

7

H= High Pressure

•Whereas high-pressure systems normally associate with dry weather and mostly clear skies with larger diurnal temperature changes due to greater radiation at night and greater sunshine during the day.
