Objectives

At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to…

• To define helping verb

• To complete sentences using helping verbs and;

• To identify the helping verb in the sentence.

HELPING VERBS

• HELP THE ACTION VERB AND CANNOT STAND ON THEIR OWN.

​Hannah had tripped on the curb.

• Helping verbs, linking verbs, co-verbs but ultimately they are additions to the main verb of the sentence.

They’re called all kinds of things:

Helping verbs/ Auxiliary verbs

• a subordinate verb is one that comes after the primary verb in a phrase.

Write a sentence using a helping verb.

( is, are, am, was, where)
