❏
I can solve a system of equations
using addition or subtraction to
eliminate
❏
I will write my equations in
standard form ax + by = c
❏
I will find a variable that has the
same coefficients
❏
I will add or subtract as needed to
eliminate that variable
❏
I will solve the equation and use
the value to find the second value

Elimination Method
●In order to use elimination method, you need to have both equations in
standard form: ax + by= c
●You need to have the same variable have coefficients that are opposite
●When you have that you will add both equations and the variable should
cancel/eliminate
●Solve for the variable that is left and go back to find the other variable
