It is estimated that globally, around 2.2 billion people do not have access to safe drinking water. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), around 663 million people still use unimproved sources of drinking water, such as surface water from lakes, rivers, and other bodies of water that are more likely to be contaminated with impurities.

Water recycle
Water recycling, also known as water reuse or water reclamation, is the process of treating and purifying used or contaminated water so that it can be used again. This can include treating wastewater from homes, businesses, and industries, as well as stormwater runoff. The goal of water recycling is to conserve natural water resources and reduce the amount of water that needs to be withdrawn from rivers, lakes, and aquifers.

Water purification process
Water purification through the STEAM approach (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) is an interdisciplinary approach that combines the knowledge and techniques from various fields to purify water.
The process begins with the collection of water samples, which are analyzed in a laboratory to determine the type and concentration of impurities present. This information is used to identify potential sources of contamination and to design appropriate treatment methods.
Science is used to understand the properties of water, the properties of impurities, and the interactions between them. This knowledge is applied to develop new technologies and techniques for purifying water.
Technology is used to design and build water purification systems, such as filters, reverse osmosis systems, and ultraviolet (UV) disinfection systems.
Engineers use this technology to optimize the design and performance of these systems and to ensure they are safe and effective.
Art is used to create visual representation to help people understand the water purification process and to design systems that are aesthetically pleasing.
Mathematics is used to model and simulate water purification systems, and to analyze data collected during the purification process.
During the water purification process, multiple methods can be combined in a multi-barrier approach to ensure that the water is effectively purified and safe for use. These methods can include physical treatment, such as sedimentation and filtration, chemical treatment, such as chlorination and ozonation, and biological treatment, such as activated sludge.
