21.1 Working
With Ratio
Objective :
• I can record relationships using ratio
notation
• I can find one quantity when the
other is given
• I can divide amounts in a given ratio
3
When do we
use ratio?
4
A ratio is a way of comparing quantities
that are measured in the same units.

Let’s have a
game
10
Rules:
The class will be divided into teams randomly
You will be given 10 seconds to observe a picture
Then the question will be given
The fastest team that say the bell will be given 3 seconds to answer
If they fail to answer, the question will be given to another team that say the
bell
The answer should be in the simplest ratio
Judge’s decision is final

Ratio and Scale
21.2
Objective:
I can make sense of scales on
maps, models and plans
24
Scale
Many pictures do not show the real size of the object. Building
plans, for example, obviously cannot be drawn in real size.
These images are created to scale so that all their parts stay in
the same ratio.
25
26
27
Maps are drawn to many
different scales depending on the
detail needed.

Create your
dream house
●Sketch your house plan on a paper. It must contain the scale, the
name of each room and the measurements of the rooms.
●Answer the following questions
1.What is the real measurement of your bedroom?
2.What is the real measurement of the kitchen?
●Take the photo and submit it to Google Classroom
