Democracy

Democracy is a political system that people hold the supreme political power.

It is up to the people to empower and dethrone the leaders in and out of power.

The fundamental concept when you choose your representative based on your free will. Democracy does not come easily and needs the existence of well- shactured and well functioning institutions are mandatory.

The representative may receive unanimously or a majority of law.

Democracy is more than just a political system however, but a way of life.

It is the effect of ho you interact with others in our society.

Fundamental Principals of Democracy

Popular Sovereignty

All citizens of a state is a legitimate sources of a government authority.

A country may process a variety of legal instruments such as civil law, criminal law, civil service law, and so on. However, the constitution's taxes have precedence over the law.

Citizen Participation is vital for democracy. It is the right and the obligation of citizens to participate. They participate by voting, public meeting, debating issues such as taxation, gender equality, child trafficking, traffic accidents, etc.

The Oppurtunities of Democracy in Ethiopia

Some of the opportunities of democracy in Ethiopia are

Deforms of democratic institutions like the human rights commission and national board of elections

Rapid expansion of education, both public and private

Massive investments in infrastructring such as roads, railways, airports and communication system can increase social interaction

Significant investments in agriculture are age-industry

Private and public investments in tourism dreams

No powerful institutions to support democratic processes

The absence of complimentary party roles among different parties

Lack of an informed society

The general public does not have access to media outlets that exist

Weak political participation also hinders the expected development of democratization.

Poverty is another factor that prevents our country from achieving democracy.

The State Structures and Branches

A unitary state structure is often described as a centralized government. All powers held by the government belong to a single, central agency.

Federal state structure is one that divides the powers of government between the national government to state and local government power. (alliance)

Confederal state structure is an alliance between governments to follow their rules.

Executive branches enforces the law (the white house) (works with president, vice president and the cabnet)

Legislative branches make laws, declares war, controls taxes, etc (works in the capital building)

Judicral branches interprets the laws (works in the Supreme Court)
