  1. The sun was very bright, and Coyote was very hot. “It must be 100 degrees!” he said. “I need a cloud over me”.

  1. Magpie flew by, and she agreed. She said, “A cloud would cool things down a bit.”

  2. Soon a huge cloud arrived, making the air cooler, but Coyote still felt warm. “I wish we could have some rain.” he said.

  1. “Do you think that is wise?” Magpie asked.

  2. “I know what I’m doing, Magpie,” Coyote said.

  3. Soon many heavy clouds formed. Rain fell and formed puddles.

  4. “These puddles are too shallow to soak my paws.” said Coyote. “I want a brook.”

  5. Magpie squeaked , “This can’t be good.”

  6. A brook appeared, but Coyote wanted even deeper water. “I wish the brook were wide river.” he said.

  1. “Oh, boy,” Magpie squawked. “He’s done it now.”

  2. A river appeared. It swept the frightened Coyote along with it. The river got so deep that Coyote had trouble staying on top of the water. He became terrified. It took him a while to get back to land.

  3. “You almost drowned !” Magpie said.

  4. “Maybe asking for too much was not a god idea.” Coyote answered.
