"Red Scare" refers to the widespread fear of Communism in the U.S. during WW2.
In the years after WW2, many Americans became suspicious of a possible communist threat within the United States.

President Truman created the Loyalty Review Board to conduct investigations of government employees with Communist ties. If you were caught to be "disloyal" you would be fired.

Joseph McCarthy was a U.S. Senator from Wisconsin who claimed he had a list of Communists spies who had infiltrated the U.S. State Department. Homeboy was broadcasting these claims all over the news, tv, newspapers and radio.

McCarthyism represents the peak Anti-Communist hysteria of the Red Scare and the practice of making false claims against innocent people.
McCarthy was asked to provide the list but never did, boy was capping hard asf.

Group of 10 film industry members that refused to testify to an anti-communist committee hearing during the Second Red Scare era. Sentenced to a year in prison!

Chambers had accused Hiss of being an undercover agent for the Kremlin. Hiss vehemently denied the charges.

The space race was a series of competitive technology demonstrations between the United States and the Soviet Union, aiming to show superiority in spaceflight.
The first man-made satellite in space! Americans were shocked to learn that Russia seemed to be ahead in space exploration. President Eisenhower and Congress passed an act providing funds to math and science programs.

3 months before takeoff, NASA selected Neil Armstrong to take the first steps on the moon since the door hatch was on Neil's side of the shuttle.
