What were Lewis and Clark known for:

1.Lewis and Clark were best known for the expedition from the Mississippi river to the west coast and back

2.The expedition was called the (Corps of Discovery)

3.To confirm or deny the theory of an allwater Northwest Passage to the Pacific ocean

The goals of the expedition were:

Main way to move:

1.Lewis and clark mostly moved by foot by when they couldn't they moved by 30 foot dugout canoes
and horseback

1.The expedition began on may 14th 1804 in St. louis Missouri and ended on September 23 1806 In
the pacific ocean

2.They traveled nearly 8,000 miles on land and sea

3.Lewis and clark and there crew spent the first winter in fort Madan and there second winter in fort
clatsop.

4.There expedition lasted 2 years, 4 months and 10 days

What difficulties did Lewis and Clark face:

1.Harsh weather

2.Ungorvining terrain

4.Injuries and Disease (colds and influenza)

How did Sacagawea help Lewis and Clark:

She helped the corps communicate and translating along with her husband.

Sacagawea was chosen to a company lewis and Clark.

Sacagawea tribe traded with lewis and Clark for horses to cross the rocky
mountains.

What were the success of the Expedition and how did it

impact the US:

1.Lewis and clark added new geographical knowledge to the true course of the upper missouri river
and its tributaries.

2.They destroyed the dream of the northwest passage but proved the success of overland travel to
the pacific

3.They also mapped out uncharted land, rivers and mountains

4.They brought back journals of Native american tribes and new plants and animal

5.The explorers brought back tales that made other americans dream about heading out west
