How to play Em chord?

Playing two or more then 2 notes simultaneously together is called a chord.
We will learn more about chord in upcoming lesson. But meanwhile, lets learn the simplest chord first.

.

E minor chord (denotes as 'e' or em' or Em)
The E minor chord is one of the easiest chords to learn, and one of the most common minor chords to play.

You only need two fingers.

  1. Place your 2nd finger on the 5th string at the 2nd fret.

  2. Then, place your 3rd finger on the 4th string at the 2nd fret.

  3. Strum all six strings.

.

You may be asking yourself “can I use my first two fingers instead?”.

But there is a reason why some people prefer to use their second two fingers—by leaving your first finger available, you’ll have an easier time switching to other chord shapes nearby, like C major, A minor, or D major.
