The Mexican-American War
officially ended with the
signing of the Treaty of
Guadalupe Hidalgo. With
this treaty, Mexico gave up
all claims to Texas,
California, Nevada, Utah,
Arizona, Colorado, New
Mexico, and Wyoming. In
return, the United States
agreed to pay Mexico $15
million. This became known
as the Mexican Cession.
