trend line - a line you draw on a graph to approximate data (often referred to as the line of best fit)

As we work through this lesson, you'll notice that what we've talked about the last two days, Scatter Plots & Bivariate Data, were building blocks to what we're talking about today.

Line of Best Fit (Trend Lines)

• You can draw a line through the points on each of the graphs below.

• These lines can be used to make predictions about the data.

• One of these lines fits the data better than the other. Which one do you think is the best fit?
