Chapter Eleven summary:
●Tree-ear climbs to the top of the Rock of the Falling Flowers..
●A strange man tries to steal Tree-ear's jiggeh. Tree-ear realises that the man
is a bandit. Suddenly a second bandit comes up behind Tree-ear.
●Tree-ear tries to fight them both, but he is powerless to stop them opening
the jiggeh and taking out one of the vases.
●The bandits had been hoping to steal rice, and are angry at the'useless' pots.
Before they leave Tree-ear alone, they throw the pots over the cliff. They
fall down on the ground far below. Tree-ear feels like throwing himself off
the cliff, but realises that this would be the act of a coward. But he does
throw down the jiggeh with an cry of fury.
●Tree-ear runs down the mountain again, but suddenly realises he didn't hear
the second pot smash. He finds the pots broken into a thousand pieces.
However, Tree-ear does find one large shard.
●He decides to continue his journey to Songdo to show the emissary the single
shard.

End of chapter: Summarize Strategy
Let me summarize. The emissary said that Tree-ear should deliver the message to Min that he had been offered a commission. He offered Tree-ear shelter, food, and passage back to Ch'ulp'o by sea. Tree-ear bowed all the way to the ground but was not able to speak.
