Let's Practice?
Vocabulary:
Barter: Exchange goods or services.
Goods: Things or objects people use.
Services: Activity that a person does for the benefit of someone.
People have used the money for more than 3000 years. Before that time, people used to barter. Bartering is an exchange without money. Goods and services can be bartered. For example, I will give you some onions if you help to take care of my animals. It was not easy to barter. So people in prehistoric times started to exchange salt, animals, and services, but some people still barter now.
The Chinese created the first money. They were little sharp figures, but those were dangerous. So the Chinese decided to model them as circles. In that way the first coins appeared. Later with the invention of paper, paper money also appeared. Now governments distribute money, but in that time, banks distributed the money.
