Describing Daily Schedule

A schedule is something that you do everyday, sometimes we call it a routine or habit.

As we have learned last week in our tenses lesson, we use SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE when describing our daily routine because it is something we do everyday at a regular basis.

Characteristics of daily schedule description using simple present tense

1. uses the base form of the verb (V1) for example: eat, study, go, etc.

2. the pronoun will determine the type of verb, for example: I eat, she goes, they study, etc.

3. sometimes uses adverbs of frequency to express how often we do that activity in our schedule.

When talking about your daily routine in English, it is common to use adverbs of frequency.

We use them before the verb to express how often we do something. The list of adverbs and the frequency is below.

Adverbs of frequency

2 Exceptions when it comes to the position of the adverb of frequency in a sentence:

- When using the verb to be, the adverb must come after the main verb be. “Judy is always late to work”.

- Sometimes, usually and occasionally can go in the front, middle, or end position of a sentence. Others are positioned after the pronoun.
