Introduce yourself if necessary

  • "I don't believe we have met; hello, I am...."

  • Don't panic if you need to remember a name. Admit it and say..." Excuse me, but your name has just escaped me," or "I'm sorry, I've forgotten your name"

Handshake

  • Shake hands when meeting someone.

  • Both men and women shake hands.

  • Extend your hand at a right angle with your thumb pointing straight up, and touch thumb joint to thumb joint; once you make contact, put your thumb down gently, and wrap your fingers around the other person's palm. Pump enough to finish the introduction.

  • Say something when you shake hands, "Nice to meet you" or "Hello John".
