which is important for strong, healthy
bones.

Fruits give us vitamins, minerals,
dietary fiber, and main nutrients
present in plants that help your body
stay healthy.

Grain (Cereal) Foods - Always choose whole
grain varieties of breads, cereals, rice, pasta,
noodles, and others. Remember that grain
products such as cakes or biscuits can be high in
added sugar, fat, and sodium.

Lean meats and poultry, fish, eggs, tofu,
nuts and seeds- Your body uses the proteins
you eat to build, maintain and repair a tissues in
your body. Muscles and organs (such as your heart)
are made of protein.

Vegetables, legumes, and beans -
Vegetables should be encouraged at every
meal (including snack times). They provide
vitamins, minerals, dietary fiber, and nutrients
that are naturally present in plants to help your
body stay healthy.

For kids of all ages, water and milk are the
best choices, so let them follow. Water is
not only calorie-free, but drinking it
teaches you to accept a low-flavor,
no-sugar beverage as a thirst- quencher. A
cup of milk has 300 milligrams of calcium.
It can be a big contributor to your daily
needs, Each kid of your age needs 1000
milligrams of calcium a day, and it is
equivalent to 2 cups of milk a day.

• Soft drinks can raise blood sugar.
• They can cause higher risk of heart disease.

problems, and depression.

Fat
Eating a lot of fatty foods and not doing any physical activity are not healthy habits.
Fats will be stored in the body which can cause obesity.
Sugar
Sugar can be found in many processed foods and drinks. The body changes sugar into
fat. That means eating too much sugary foods can lead to obesity. Eating too much sugary
foods can also cause tooth decay.
Salt
Having too much salty foods can cause high blood pressure, heart disease, and stroke.

A healthy life begins with a proper diet. Having a healthy eating habit is
important for the proper formation of bones, teeth, muscles and a healthy heart.
Childhood obesity is on the rise, and by promoting a healthy diet, children can
maintain a healthy weight and stay healthy as they grow into young adults.
