To produce something (especially the generation of
energy).
The scooter burns gasoline to generate energy.

The production of something
(Can also mean: people born around the same time)
Fossil fuels are used in the generation of electricity.
The generation of electricity from geothermal energy is
enough to support all the houses in Iceland.

To bring or join things together.
I connect my headphones to my computer.
The students connect the unit to their own
lives.

The relationship between things or people.

I didn’t know solar energy could be
used to make electricity. I live in
Mexico and it’s sunny all the time.

Predict (verb)
To say something will happen in the future.
I predict that humans will travel to mars in my lifetime.
Trying to predict the future is hard work!

Prediction (noun)
Something that has been predicted.
Something you think will happen in the future.
My prediction is that humans will not travel to mars.
Scientists call a prediction a hypothesis, and they learn
something new when their predictions are wrong.

Evaluate (verb)
To form an idea about the value
of something; to assess.
You should evaluate your choices
based on their consequences.
I want you to evaluate if fossil
fuels are a good source of energy.

A judgement about the value of
something.
The shark’s evaluation of my
company was less than my own.
I worked hard on my project, and I
got a great evaluation!

(noun or verb)
A scientific procedure used to make discoveries or
test a hypothesis.
We did an experiment (n) with hot water, cold
water, and coffee.

(noun)
The process of using scientific tests.
