I can identify the different steps being taken to strengthen the Global economy by
analyzing the measures being done in Europe and in North America

Global Economy:

-Despite regional violence and terrorist attacks,
the end of the Cold War meant a new era of
peace for much of the world

-There was no longer fear of war between the
United States and the Soviet Union affecting
the rest of the planet.

-Focus was switched from military competition
and cooperation to economic competition and
cooperation.

Western Europe

-Countries began to collaborate economically

-They reduced or eliminated tariffs on several goods,

Why do this ??????

-This would strengthen each country and
prevent conflict

-The cooperation helped these countries
rebuild and develop strong economies

-Many European countries had agreed to
join the European Union

-Common economic policies and many shared
regulations, common citizenship rights, and even
a common currency called the euro

NAFTA

-Leaders in the United States and Canada were
impressed by how European countries increased
trade by reducing and eliminating restrictions.

-In response the United States and Canada formed
a trade agreement that also eliminated tariffs on
goods exchanged between them.

-This was expanded to include mexico

-NAFTA created the largest free-trade zone in the
world
