Lesson 1
Lesson 1 - Art that shows everyday life
Art is a window into different cultures, which can be seen through commonly used themes that artists all around the world use. Some of these common themes show us things such as what an average day might look like, the beauty of an area’s natural surroundings, celebrations and traditions, and parts of the past. It’s time to take a peek through that window and expand our knowledge about the wide world that surrounds us. Daily life, food, transportation, activities - all are art.

Lesson 2 - Art that shows people
Often, art acts like a memory. Paintings and drawings can freeze a moment in time and present an image for us to look back on. Really, you can think of paintings and drawings like a more creative version of a photograph! Let’s take a look at some examples of art that managed to capture a moment in time for different people in different places.

Lesson 3 - Art that shows events
Historical Moments
As we stated previously, cameras haven’t been around forever. Before cameras, we relied on paintings and drawings to capture moments in time. Many historical moments, or events which occurred in the past, were captured through paintings and drawings. Some were created during that exact moment, and some were created later, through descriptions of the event.
