The Principle of Magic: Energy

All magic requires energy to cast. You may already know this, but what you might not know is that the energy used is the same required to perform the task through nonmagic methods. Also in the energy spent is the energy to move over to the area of the task performed. So to levitate a pencil requires the same amount of energy as moving over to the pencil and hold it in the air.
