ANTARCTICA
■ Antarctica, the 5thlargest continent. It is ice bound throughout
the year.
■ Animals: Penguins and seals, accompanied by a few
invertebrates such as mite and ticks – the only land animals
that can tolerate the low temperatures, primarily inhabit it.
■ Marine Life: rich and it include krill, a shrimp-like organism that
is a food source for large numbers of whales in the surrounding
waters.

■ Antarctica, has no trees, flowering plants, or grasses.
■ It is a true desert with extremely cold climate making it the
coldest, windiest and driest continent.
■ The average temperature is around -50oC and the land is swept
by hurricanes and the annual rainfall is only 50 mm per year.

ANTARCTICA
■ Settlement: This continent has no native civilization but the
United Kingdom, Norway, France, Australia, New Zealand, Chile
and Argentina have made territorial claims. Due to the climate,
it makes it impossible for people to settle down.
■ Environmental issues: Its ozone layer, which protects the
earth’s surface from harmful ultraviolet radiation has been
reduced to a dangerous level.

PARADISE BAY aka PARADISE HARBOR
■ Paradise bay is located at the western coast of the Antarctica
Peninsula.
■ This lovely harbor is filled with glaciated mountains that cast
beautiful reflections on the icy water.
■ Aside from the famous icebergs, mountains and penguins, it is
also famous for the earliest research work done in 1920s.

PORT LOCKROY
■ The post office in Port Lockroy sits amongst a massive penguin
colony and picturesque icebergs.
■ It is the most visited site in Antarctica.

■ Asia is the LARGEST continent in terms of size.
■ It covers around 1/3 of the world’s land area.
■ Asia is know for its Vast size and incomparable character.
■ It stretches from Japan to Southeast Asia Peninsula
(8500km)
■ The Highest point in Asia is Mount Everest – 8,848 meters
■ The Lowest point in Asia is shore of Dead Sea – 397 below
sea level.

■ The Taj Mahal is built in the 17thcentury.
■ It took 22 years to construct.
■ It was built as a testimony of the love that Emperor Shah Jahan
had for his late wife.
■ It is one of the new seven wonders of the world.

■ Forbidden City is a palace complex Beijing.
■ The former Chinese imperial palace from the Ming Dynasty to
the end of Qing Dynasty (1420 – 1912)
■ It houses the Palace museum and served as the homes of
emperors and their household as well.

ANG KOR WAT, SIEM REAP, CAMBODIA
■ Ang Kor Watt is a temple located in Angkor, Cambodia.
■ Temple was built for King Suryavarman 2 during the 12th
century.
■ The temple began as the King’s state temple in the capital.
■ The main temple is a part of an entire complex of temples and
ruins.
■ The entire Angkor Wat is made up of several different temples.

MOUNT EVEREST, NEPAL
■ 60 million years ago, Mount Everest was formed. Giving earth
one of its most spectacular natural landmarks.
■ The highest mountain in the world is located on the border of
Nepal and Tibet.
■ Nepal benefited from Mount Everest as they make a significant
amount of money ($11000 USD per permit)
■ As ecotourism is growing, there are more areas becoming a
draw for tourists.

BUKCHON HANOK VILLAGE, S.KOREA
■ Bukchon Hanok Village is a Korean traditional Village in Seoul.
■ A long history located on the top of a hill between Gyeongbok,
Changdeok palace and Jongmyo Shrine.
■ The village is composed with many alleys and hanoks
(traditional house) and is preserved to show a 600 year old
urban environment.
■ Allows tourists to experience the Joseon dynasty.
