Figurative Language Vocabulary Review
El lenguaje figurativo son frases, palabras, expresiones que se usan de manera no literal para crear un significado especial. Seguido tiene diferentes significados o intenciones más allá de las formas en que se usa normalmente la palabra o frase.
Puede transmitir un significado complicado, aclarar una emoción/idea o evocar una comparación. El lenguaje figurado puede decorar un escrito y ayudarlo a cobrar vida. La escritura creativa a menudo apela a todos los sentidos humanos (vista, tacto, gusto, olfato, oído), comenta experiencias humanas compartidas (emociones, relaciones, aventuras, etc.) o presenta una visión del mundo (ética, filosofía, moral, etc.)
Figurative language is phrasing, words, expressions that are used non-literally to create a special meaning. It often has different meanings or intentions beyond the ways in which the word or phrase is typically used.
It can convey a complicated meaning, or clarify an emotion/idea, or evoke a comparison. Figurative language can decorate a piece of writing and help it come alive. Creative writing will often appeal to every human sense (sight, touch, taste, smell, hearing), comment on a shared human experiences (emotions, relationships, adventure etc.) or present a world view (ethics, philosophy, morals, etc.)

Inferencing, interpreting, analyzing
When we read or listen to different texts it's important to be able to read into the symbolic language used by the author in order to get the most of the piece. Based on the text, we must:

Infer- Form an opinion about possible meaning based on information that stands out in the text

Interpret - Explain the reasoning behind your inference. Use evidence from the text to back up your observations.
Interpretar: explique el razonamiento detrás de su inferencia. Usa evidencia del texto para respaldar tus observaciones.
Analyze- Break down your reasoning into parts and examine what it means for the text as a whole.

Denotation: The literal meaning of a word. There is no figurative or underlying meaning. (a word's basic definition)
