Modal verbs

To talk about what we can do, we use the verb "poder" (to be able to / to can). Poder is a stem-changing verb, which means that the vowel before the ending changes.

To give advice in Spanish we use the phrases "se debería" (you/one should) and "no se debería"(you/one should not)​.

Giving advice

  • "(No) se debería" is always followed by an infinitive (-ar / -er / -ir verb)
