Sharks are fish that live in the sea. A shark waves its tail in the water to swim. Its fins help it go back and forth as it swims. Its nose picks up smells to help it find food. It can smell fish and other animals that are far away in the sea.

Sharks can be big. This shark is at least as long as a car. It targets fish and seals to eat. It grabs them with its sharp teeth.

It can be hard to see this shark’s fin as it swims, but it can jump right out of the sea! Then it slaps the water as it lands.

Most sharks have a nose that is pointed, but sharks can have odd shapes, too. This shark’s head is flat and wide. Its eyes sit at the ends.

Sharks can also be flat. Flat sharks like this carpet shark lie on sand. They stay so still that fish don’t see them. Fish swim by, and then the sharks snap and grab them.

This shark is not in the sea. Its home is a really big tank. People like to go to the tank to see this shark. They can see how it swims and eats.

This is one way to find out more about sharks. Can you name other ways?
