56. 1st Grade SRR: Red, Red, Sunset

“Be quick, Fred!” calls Mom. “We can go see the sunset.”

“Yes, Mom!” yells Fred. He fetches his red hat because it is cold. Mom grabs a black hat.

Fred runs to catch up with his mom.

She gets in the big red pickup truck with black mud flaps.

“Hop in,” Mom tells Fred. Then Mom starts the pickup truck.

Putt, putt, putt! The pickup truck chugs uphill. It is on a zigzag path.

Mom and Fred pass ditches, cliffs, and rocks. Fred spots a bobcat on a big log

Mom stops the pickup truck on the hilltop. Fred hops out and sits on a big flat rock.

Mom gets mats. “That rock is cold!”

Mom tells Fred.

The sunset is pretty. It has red flashes. “Fred, get snapshots,” Mom tells him.

Fred grins. Mom hugs Fred. Click, click! Mom claps. “Good shots, Fred!

Then the sun sets. Fred picks up the mats. He gets back in the pickup truck. Mom hops in as well.

The pickup truck chugs back downhill. “That sunset trip was fun,” Fred tells Mom.
