Our world is home to many kinds of animals. A good way to learn about them is by reading books. These books tell us facts about how animals look and act.
It is hard to study wild animals. They will often run and hide from us. So how can we find out facts to write in books?
3
One way to get facts is to study animals in the wild. People can hide by an animal’s home and spend time looking at it each day or night.
An animal must not know that it is being watched, or it might leave its home and not go back. We must be quite still and stay hidden to take pictures and write notes.

In dry places, many kinds of wildlife often drink at the same pond. We do not need to be at the pond to look at this wildlife. A webcam can be set up to film the animals.
This webcam films day and night. It links to a website. Then we use a laptop to look at this website to see how different kinds of animals act.

Kids lug backpacks. Wildlife can lug backpacks, too! These backpacks can film and take simple pictures. The backpacks drop off the animals when there is no more space to hold the film and pictures.
People track down these backpacks. Then they can use laptops to look at the film and pictures.

It is cold and dark in the deep sea. It is not a safe place to swim. Yet the deep sea is filled with wildlife. How can we see it?
Little subs with lights can dive that deep. People on ships use handsets to make the subs go. These subs film sea life up close. People stay dry and use laptops to get good looks at wildlife in the sea.
