“Where will we go next?” I asked Mom and Dad. “Will we go to a store? Will we go to see a play?” I asked many things, but Mom and Dad didn’t answer me!

“You’ll see,” Mom told me with a little grin. Dad’s smile was wide, but he didn’t tell me where we would be going next.

We went down a long road and made a few more turns. Dad stood still and pointed to a big gate down the road.

“We are going there!” he told us.

Yay! We were going to watch a game!

We joined a line and went inside. Dad paid for us. He gave me my ticket stub. I will keep it with me always!

“Let’s get snacks on the way to our seats,” Mom said. We got food and drinks at a stand. I asked for a hot dog. It smelled so good! I couldn’t wait to eat it!

We found our seats and sat down at last. I peeled the foil off my hot dog. It was very hot, so I waited a bit. Then I took my first bite. Yum!

A batboy handed a bat to a man. The man walked up to home plate. His shirt had a big blue ten on it.

A loud voice spoke to the crowd. “Now at bat is Roy Cowboy Clark!” There’s the pitch! Roy swung hard, but he missed.

“You can do it, Roy!” a boy yelled out.

Roy swung again. This time it was a hit! It came right at us. Then it hit a railing. I jumped and reached up as far as I could, and it landed right in my hands!

“That looked like it was going to fly out of the park!” Dad yelled.

The game ended too soon! We followed the crowd and left the stands.

On our way out, I heard a voice saying, “Good catch, kid!” It was Roy Cowboy Clark, and he had a pen in his hand!

“Nice hit, Roy Clark,” I answered. He asked for my prize. I watched him write his name and Good Catch on it. Wow!
