127. 1st Grade SRR: Game Day

When it is Game Day, we don’t have class. Instead, we will spend this nice warm day outside playing games. That’s because Game Day is today!

“Have fun, Rob!” Mom said as she dropped me off on her way to work.

“Don’t think about winning,” our teacher told us. “Have fun, and be good sports!”

I was on a team with my best pals, Megan and Jay. We like batting, so first we went to hit some balls.

I grabbed a bat and started swinging, but I didn’t do too well. I kept missing the ball.

Megan hit well, and so did Jay. Jay’s ball went gliding high over the treetops.

I did better at the next game. A small goal sat in the grass. We each got five balls to kick. I kicked one of them so hard that it almost knocked down the goal! I scored all five times.

Jay patted me on the back and said, “You’re on fire, Rob!” We all laughed. It was such a good time!

Megan smiled as she walked the beam with a beanbag on her head. She had to get to the end of the beam without letting the beanbag fall. She did it! Go, Megan! Mine fell off after six steps. Jay lost his bag after just two steps!

We laughed and then zipped off to join the crowd for the big race.

We faced the other team and shook hands with them. Then we were off!

The race began with fast running. Then we had to go weaving in and out of cones and hopping in and out of hoops.

My team worked hard, but we didn’t win. I didn’t mind. We still had fun. It was fun racing between cones and through hoops.

A fire truck pulled up when all the games were done. A smiling face looked at us.

“Who needs to cool off?” the woman asked, grinning at all of us hot kids.

“Me! Me! I do! I do!” we all yelled.

We danced with joy as the water soaked us. We giggled and flopped on the grass.

I wish every day could be Game Day!
