84. 1st Grade SRR: The Best Tail

Do you see us way up in this tree? This tree is our home. We are safe from big cats and snakes up in trees.

I play in these trees all the time. How do I stay up here? I hold on with my four feet and my tail!

I can grab with my feet. My feet are a bit like hands, and that helps me grab with them. I can wrap my tail around things, so it works like a hand as well. It’s as if I had five hands!

See how my tail can wrap around this tree? I can hold on with this tail as I rock and sway. I’ll never fall from this tree. I can do this all day!

This tail is the best. Don’t you think a tail like mine is a big help?

It’s time to eat! I’ll use my feet to pick up some meals as my tail grips the tree. I like to eat nuts, leaves, and eggs.

Yum! I ate a lot. That’s enough. Now I need to get a drink.

I see a lake. Do I leave this tree to reach the lake? No, I don’t need to do that! I’ll just go out on this branch as far as I can over the lake. Then I’ll use my fine tail to help me reach down and take a sip

Let’s play! My pals and I use feet and tails to go fast. Leaves shake as we leap from tree to tree. We call as we go! We’ll play as much as we can, but it will be time to rest at sunset. We like this tree life!
