Gail looked up at the sky. She saw a big gull fly past. It was as bright and white as snow. Gail saw it fly up high, dive, and glide.

“I wish I could fly like that gull,” she sighed.

The big white gull came by again. It looked right into Gail’s eyes. It seemed to smile at Gail!

“Mom, I wish I could fly like that big gull,” said Gail. “It just floats in the sky. It must be so much fun to fly.”

“A girl can’t fly like a gull, but you will fly soon,” said Mom. “Our family will take a trip on a plane. We will fly way up in the sky.”

Gail jumped up and down.

“Yay! I can’t wait!” she yelled.

“Will we go way up high?” asked Gail.

“Yes, we will,” Mom said.

“Where will we go?” asked Gail. “Can we bring Ted with us?”

“We will go see Gramps at his home,” said Mom, “and yes, we can bring Ted.”

“Look, Mom! I can fly like a gull,” said Gail. She ran up a little hill and jumped off it. Then Mom ran up the hill.

“I will fly and catch up with you,” said Mom. Gail and Mom laughed as they ran and jumped.

“I will go pack,” said Gail.

Gail got a big bag. She stuffed tops, pants, and socks in it.

“I will not pack Ted,” said Gail. “Ted can sit on my lap when we fly. I can’t wait to fly!”
