MALARIA
Malaria is a disease caused by disease-spreading mosquitoes. Earlier, people thought there was bad air in swampy and wet areas. This is why they gave it the name malaria which means bad air. Dr Roland Ross discovered that mosquitoes spread malaria when he looked inside the stomach of a disease-spreading mosquito. He saw the same germs as the ones in patients affected by malaria. He got the Nobel Prize for Medicine in 1902 for discovering that mosquitoes spread malaria. Even as he lay dying he said "I will find something! I will find something new.....". Malaria can also be spread by larvae which are little thread-like babies of mosquitoes that hatch from the eggs of mosquitoes and they are found in swampy and wet areas. They can also cause diseases.

MEDICINES OF MALARIA
Earlier we used the bark of the Cinchona tree to fight against malaria and made a powder out of it. It was then given to malaria patients. Nowadays, we make tablets out of the tree's bark.
