How do we talk about past actions?

When do we use Simple Past?

To talk about things that ended in the past and we want to say the time.

  • To be --> was / were

How do we form the Past Simple?

  • Subject ( noun e.g Ali or pronoun e.g he)

  • Verb ( in past - usually with ed ( e.g played )

  • Object

  • Time (e.g yesterday - last week - 2015 )

Past Simple: Negative

  • For negative sentences we use the auxiliary verb DID+NOT = DIDN'T

  • The verb doesn't change when we use DIDN'T.

  • She didn't go to the party.

  • We didn't study for the test.

What if someone did not do that in the past?

We use ( did ) after the subject and then we can add ( not ) ..

Remember: the main verb should be in present NOW. ( play not played )
