ภาษาพิดจิน (pidgin)

1. ​เป็นภาษาที่เกิดจากการสัมผัสภาษา มีรูปแบบที่ง่ายขึ้น ใช้สำหรับสื่อสารระหว่างกลุ่มที่ไม่ได้มีภาษาเดียวกัน เพื่อจุดประสงค์ด้านการค้า มีการใช้อย่างต่อเนื่องแต่ยังใช้กันในวงที่จำกัด ตัวอย่างเช่น

   West African Pidgin English:	English:
   "I go chop food for mama house."	"I will eat food at my mother's house."
   "Make we waka go market together."	"Let's go to the market together."
   Nigerian Pidgin English:
   "No wahala, we go fit run am."	"No problem, we can handle it."
   "Oga, abeg show me road to that place."	"Sir/Madam, please show me the way to that location."

ภาษาครีโอล (creole)

1. ​เป็นภาษาพิดจินที่มีผู้ใช้เป็นภาษาแม่ (native speakers) มีการพัฒนาด้านโครงสร้างและคำศัพท์ที่ใช้สื่อสารความหมายที่กว้างขวางขึ้น และสามารถนำไปใช้ในการสื่อสารในหลากหลายสถานการณ์เช่นเดียวกับภาษาที่หนึ่งโดยทั่วไป

   West African Pidgin English:	Creole
   "I go chop food for mama house."	"Mi waka go chop food na mama yard."
   "Make we waka go market together."	"Meke we waka go market togeda."
   Nigerian Pidgin English:
   "No wahala, we go fit run am."	"Nuh wahala, we go fit run dat."
   "Oga, abeg show me road to that place."	"Boss, please show me di road to dat place."
