The purpose of this MLA is to apply widely
accepted guidelines for standardizing essay
formatting, ensuring coherence, consistency, and
quality in document writing.

Use an easily readable typeface (e.g., Times New Roman).
•
Font size should be between 11 and 13 points unless specified otherwise.
•
Use the same typeface and size throughout the paper.

Do not justify the lines of text at the right margin.
•
Turn off automatic hyphenation.
•
Double-space the entire research paper.
•
Indent the first line of a paragraph half an inch from the left margin.
•
Indent block quotations half an inch as well.
•
Leave one space after a period or other concluding punctuation mark.
