The purpose of this MLA is to apply widely

accepted guidelines for standardizing essay

formatting, ensuring coherence, consistency, and

quality in document writing.

• Leave one-inch margins at the top,

bottom, and both sides of the text.

•

Use an easily readable typeface (e.g., Times New Roman).

•

Font size should be between 11 and 13 points unless specified otherwise.

•

Use the same typeface and size throughout the paper.

•

Do not justify the lines of text at the right margin.

•

Turn off automatic hyphenation.

•

Double-space the entire research paper.

•

Indent the first line of a paragraph half an inch from the left margin.

•

Indent block quotations half an inch as well.

•

Leave one space after a period or other concluding punctuation mark.

• Type your name, your instructor's

name, the course name, and number,
and the date on separate
double-spaced lines.

• Center the title without italicizing,

underlining, or using quotation marks
or boldface.

• Do not use a period after your title or

after any heading in the paper.
