NCC Training Framework

There are 2 main training frameworks in NCC:
1. NCC Key Thrusts
2. Cadet Strong Framework

Every activity planned should bear these frameworks in mind to ensure alignment with NCC training objectives.

1 Platoon Commanders (PCs)

Platoon ICs (JC / SC / CL Platoons)
Attendance at training
Platoon safety and welfare during training
Platoon discipline, turn out and morale
Planning activities with USM/ASM for platoon
Ensuring training syllabus is covered for proficiency test

2 Specialist Instructors

Unit Drill Instructor (UDI) and Physical Training Instructor (PTI)
Attend NCC specialised courses
Advise USM/ASM on syllabus and training during planning
Ensure drill and fitness standards maintained (including CLs)
Selecting cadets for competitions (advise teacher officers)

3 Logistics

Unit Quartermaster (UQM)
Overall In Charge of NCC store
Work with USM/ASM in planning training
Ensure logistics / equipment are available
Ensure safe keeping of cadets belongings during training
Assist with kit exchange and uniform sizing

4 Unit Leaders

Unit Sergeant Major (USM and ASM)
Provide vision and direction for the unit and for cadet leaders
To direct planning for training (RO) and to submit for vetting
Communicate training programmes to JC / SC / CLs
Improving unit cohesion / morale / dedication
Improving training methods / better training programmes
Ensure NCC training framework is followed

Planning for Training

Most important duty that should be done weekly.
USM overall in charge to ensure timely submission to teachers
RO planning team
1. USM (overall IC and responsible for submission / announcement)
2. ASM (take over is USM is unavailable)
3. PCs, LOG, UDI, PTI to contribute with feedback / suggestions / ideas

Planning for Training

Overall Structure of training:
1. Muster Parade (1430 - 1500)
2. Session 1 (1500 - 1550)
3. Session 2 (1600 - 1650)
4. Last Parade (1650 - 1700)
Dismissal of JCs and SCs at 5pm sharp
1700 - 1715: CLs Debrief / Reflection

Planning for Training

Considerations:
1. Tuesday is PT attire
2. Thursday is Full Uniform
3. Be prepared with wet weather programmes

Ensure a variety of activities in the week to prevent cadet boredom / burnout.
Be creative with activities, but keep to the NCC framework.

Committed Heart: Bonding Games, leadership games

Cadet Safety

Cadet safety and welfare is the most important aspect to take care of when planning or conducting NCC training.

Cadets should leave NCC in good spirits and without injury.

All injury or incidents MUST be reported to the teachers ASAP.
