  • The rest of the forms are stem-changing (e to ie) (except YO form)

​Uses of PONER

  • To put = Yo pongo la ropa en la maleta. I put clothes in the suitcase.

  • To place = Pongo el cuaderno sobre la mesa. I place the notebook on the table.

  • To set = Pongo la mesa todos los días en la cena. I set the table everyday for dinner.

  • Can also mean TO TURN ON a household appliance. María pone la televisión. María turns on the television.

​Uses of salir:

  • Salir de = to leave a particular place. Salgo del hospital hoy. I leave the hospital today.

  • Salir para = to indicate someone's destination. Salgo para México mañana. I leave for Mexico tomorrow.

  • Salir con = to leave with someone/something or to date someone. Salgo con mi suéter. I leave with my sweater. Elena sale con Gilberto. Elena dates Gilberto.
