• What/when:

  • "How to" quiz = 5 bonus points (due Sunday, 10/1 @ 11:59pm)

  • Chapters 1-7 = 10 points each (due dates on schedule in syllabus)

• Requirements:

  • "How to" and Chapter 1 quizzes require 10 questions / 800 points

  • Chapters 2-7 quizzes require 13 questions / 1000 points

Unit Exams

• What/when:

  • 2 exams = Thurs 10/26 & Tues 11/28

  • Each exam worth 100 pts

  • Multiple-choice, true-false, short answer/essay

• Notes:

  • Exams are not cumulative. Exam 2 is distinct from Exam 1.

  • One side of one 3x5 index card may be used for exams.

  • No "study guide" provided

  • 14 Quizizz lessons with multiple-choice questions at the end

  • 6 questions, 1 point each - worth five points total

• Notes:

  • Must be present in class to earn these points.

individual assignments

• What/when:

  • 7 assignments, from 4-18 points each

  • First one due this coming Sunday at 11pm!

  • All due dates on schedule in syllabus

• Requirements:

  • All details provided when assigned / on Canvas

  • Late penalty of 50%; 0% after 1 week

Research engagement

• What/when:

  • Required 3 hours of research activity

  • Throughout term, due 11:59pm 11/29

• Two options (either, or a combo of two):

  • 1 - Participate in OSU IRB-approved research via SONA

  • 2 - Read and write 500-1000-word review of journal articles (submit through Canvas)

​15pts/495pts = 3% of your final grade

"Game time" project

• What/when:

  • Create a 'game' that relies on course content to play

  • Due 12/5; presentations 12/5 & 12/7

• Notes:

  • 50 points; 40 for game & 10 for peer assessment

  • Concerns: schedule coordination & social loafing

  • Final exam date is "spillover" for presentations

Psychology

• The scientific study of mental activity and behavior, which depend on the processing in the brain

  • The mind is made up of all the mental activity that lets us experience the world; that is, we use our senses to take in information from outside ourselves

  • Behavior refers to all the actions that result from sensing and interpreting information

  • Brain is responsible for mental activity and behaviors
