Pierre L’Enfant was an American engineer and designer. He moved to the United States from France. He volunteered to fight in the American Revolution. He met President George Washington. Washington asked him to help design our nation's capital. L’Enfant planned the city carefully. The streets were wide and easy to identify. He planned big parks for everyone to enjoy.
