Little Amal is the 12 foot puppet of a 10 year old Syrian refugee child at the heart of "The Walk". She has become a global symbol of human rights, especially those of refugees. In Arabic, the name Amal means "hope."

Amal has traveled over 6,000 miles to 97 towns and cities in 15 countries. She represents all children who have been forced to leave their homes and are often separated from their friends and families.

Little Amal is traveling around the world searching for her mother. She wants to get back to school, and to start a new life. On the way, she has been welcomed by more than a million people on the streets and tens of millions online.

In 2023, she will journey across the United States. She is going to 35 towns and cities in the US, and IHSLP is one of her stops.

Her message on behalf of all refugees, especially children, is “Don’t forget about us.”
