The Carbon Cycle

Respiration - The exchange of gases through
breathing (animals release Carbon dioxide (CO2))
Photosynthesis - Autotrophs take in CO2 and
convert it into Glucose (sugar).
Combustion - The burning of materials (releases
Carbon trapped in living organisms)
Decomposition - breaking down or decaying organic matter (releases CO2)

Vocabulary

Greenhouse effect - Certain gases (CO2) included trap heat in the atmosphere like a greenhouse room. Causing our atmosphere to be warmer than usual.

Carbon cycle and the atmosphere:

Ocean acidification - As CO2 dissolves into water, it
becomes Carbonic acid.
Coral Bleaching - When ocean temperatures get
too warm, coral repels the algae living on it causing
it to turn completely white.
