The Penguin Who Didn’t Like Snow

Down at the South Pole lived a penguin named Mo,
who told his friends sadly, “I do not like snow.
It’s cold and it’s wet, and I’m shivering so,”
as he chittered while watching a wild blizzard blow.

5 He wore a wool jumper from kind Auntie Flo,

and gloves and a scarf from his dear Uncle Joe,
but he still sniffed and sneezed, feeling lonely and low,
as his friends splashed and laughed in the ice pool below.

He sighed, “Oh, to live where the flowers can grow!

10 Where nothing is frozen, where waterfalls flow,

where the rays of the sun set my feathers aglow,
where I feel warm and cozy from head to my toe.”

So Mo packed his bags and announced, “Cheerio!
I’ll miss you all so, but I really must go.”

15 Now he lives on a hot beach in Acapulco,

where he basks every day in the sun’s summer glow.
