SALES MADNESS AROUND THE WORLD!
Every year in late November, shoppers in the USA rush to shops and jump online for the Black Friday sales. Now Black Friday madness is spreading all around the world.
In 2010, Amazon introduced Black Friday to online shoppers in the UK. Stores and shops were quick to copy Amazon and now Black Friday is the biggest shopping day in the UK bigger than Boxing Day (26 December), the traditional sales day in the UK. Shoppers sometimes fight to get a bargain and stores have to call the police.
In China there arc also November sales like Black Friday, called ‘Singles Day’ - a day that is aimed at young people who aren’t married. In 2009, the Chinese online shop Alibaba turned Singles Day into a huge online sale. It is now bigger than Black Friday with sales of more than S30 billion dollars.
