Past continuous

• action was happening at a specific time in the past (I was watching TV yesterday at 6'.)

• action that was happening and inturrupted (cut) by other action.

  I was walking in the street when I found a pen.

Keywords/phrases

at that time, at that moment, at 9 o'clock yesterday,when, while.......etc.

Remember some rules when adding -ing

1. if the word ends in "e" we have to remove it

e.g.: dance----dancing make ----making
2. If the word ends with a combination of CONSONANT-VOWEL-CONSONANT I have to double the last letter

e.g.: run----running swim----swimming

Past Continuous Negative Form

• The past continuous, in its negative form, has this structure:

  Subject + was not/were not+ [verb + ing]

• I was not working

  You were not working

  He/She/It was not working

  We/You/They were not working

Past Continuous Interrogative Form(Yes/No Question)

• In the interrogative form we put 'was / were' in front of the subject:

• Was / Were +Subject + V(ing) + ...?

• Were you working?

• Was she working?

• Was he living in Paris at the time?

• Was it snowing when you arrived?

• Were we eating?
