when we use that?

The past simple is used for sentences in which the idea, act, or state has already been completed. It could have ended five minutes ago or five centuries ago, the ending time does not matter, the only important thing is that it is talking about something that no longer happens or exists in the present.
example:

  • In 1970

  • When you were a child

3

They are called irregular because they modify their stem completely, whether in its simple past or participle form or both. Unlike regular verbs, you do not have to include D or ED, but rather their writing changes noticeably

example: be: is/are - was/were
break/broke

irregular

D is for verbs whose last letter is e. For example: Close - Closed, believe - believed.

The ED is for verbs in any other ending. For example: Jump - Jumped, start - started

When there is a Y at the end, after a vocal, you just have to add ED. For example: Play - Played

When there is no vowel before y, it is changed to IED. For example: Study - Studied, Try - Tried

In other cases, the last consonant of the word must be repeated to add the formula ED. For example: Stop - Stopped

regular - ed - d

how is formed the past simple?
