is a text which says what a person or a thing is like

The purpose of descriptive text is

1. To describe person, thing or place in specific

2. To describe a particular person, thing or place.

GENERIC STRUCTURE

1. IDENTIFICATION: (Contains about the introduction of a person, place, animal or object will

be described.)

2. DESCRIPTION: Contains a description of something such as animal, things, place or

person by decribing its features, forms, colors, or anything related to what the writer describe.

Purpose of descriptive text

LANGUAGE FEATURE OF DESCRIPTIVE TEXT

1. Specific participant : has a certain object, is not common and
unique (only one). For example: bandengan beach, my house,

borobudur temple, uncle jim

2. The use of the adjective (an adjective) to clarify the noun, for

example: a beautiful beach, a handsome man, the famous place in

jepara, etc.

3. The use of simple present tense

: the sentence pattern used is simple present because it tells the fact

of the object described.

4. Action verb: verbs that show an act

MY HOUSE

• My house is located in Pattimura

Street 09, Kota Baru. My house has
several rooms. There are a living
room, a family room, kitchen and
bathroom, three bedrooms and a
warehouse.

• The first room is the living room.

Living room is used to approve the
guests who come to my house. In
which there is some furniture
including sofas, desks, and framed
photos on the wall and lavender
flowers on the pot.

• The second room is a family room.

Family room is the most spacious
room in my house. We usually use
the family room to gather while
watching television. In the living
room there are television, chairs,
tables, and an aquarium. That is a
big television, so when we sit
together in front of it, we can see
the movie clearly

• We have a large kitchen, including

a dinning room. There is also a
bathroom near the kitchen. I have
three bedrooms in my house. That’s
my home, the small and quiet place
that I love
