PREPOSITION LESSON

prepositions that describe the place or location of an object. If you want to express a description of place, then use the preposition of place.

prepositions that express time, such as hour, day, date, month, week, year, season, and specific times.

Example

• They will have a party at christmas.

• I will stay on your house at New Year.
  

At + holiday period

Example :

• I go to school at 6.00 o'clock.

• Let's meet tomorrow at 4.00 p.m.

• Do your work at night.

​At + specific time

Preposition of time 'AT'

Example :

• We're going to the concert on 12th December

• Her birthday party will be held on 13th this month.

​On + date

Example :

• We will have an exam on Monday.

• Do you have anything to do on Sunday ?
  

​On + days

Preposition of time 'ON'

Example :

• The Beatles was formed in 1960

• I will graduate from college in 2025

​In + Years

Example :

• We will start the final exam in December

• I went to Canada in June 2021

Example

• Globalisation is rife in the 21st century.

• The mughal dynasty was established in the 16th century.

Example :

• I can't remember the year, but my parents got married in the 90s.

• the beatles' boutique in London was very popular in the 1960s

In + the + decade

Preposition of time 'IN'

Example :

• The gate will be closed in 15 minutes.

• Dad will be home in an hour.

In + time period

Example :

• I really want to go to Japan in winter.

• the streets in the city are great in autumn.

In + season

​Example :

• I'm on airplane.

• I'm on a bus.

• I'm on a ship.
  

When you can walk in the vehicle, use ON

​Example :

• I'm in a car.

• I'm in a helicopter.

• I'm in a truck.

​​When you can't walk or even standing up, use IN

​IN vs ON

Note: small vehicle like bike, motorcycle, pedicap also use ON. Example : Im on a bike.
