Do you know what the most unique thing in this world is? Something which
is different for everyone. We all have different fingerprints. Look at your
hands. On each finger is a different ridge, no two fingers are the same!
Your fingerprints will also never change. If you get burned or injured on
your hands, your fingers will grow back the same pattern. The ridges on
the fingers help us pick up and hold different things. If we did not have
these ridges on our fingers, things would slip right out of our hands..
Whenever we touch or hold something, our fingers leave an imprint on it.
There are three main kinds of ridges on fingers

Loops are the most common fingerprint, they usually lean to one side.
Whorls look like circles which slowly get smaller. A perfect whorl looks
like a circle. Finally arches are very rare and not a lot of people have
them. All fingerprint shapes are made on our fingers when we are
children. Many different businesses and countries use fingerprints as a
way to identify people because everyone has different fingerprints. There
has never been two people with the same ones before which makes our
hands super special!
