“Hey mom! Hey dad! grandma?” “Hi dear” “grandma you left, don’t call me ‘dear’” “George enough” my mom said “be nice to your grandma” my father said. “Grandma, why are you here?” George asked. “Well dear, I wa-” “don’t call me dear.” “Ha sorry, but anyways I was kicked out of my group so I came here” “That’s your fault so mother why do we have to keep her!? She can pay her debt to karma.” “George! Go to your room!” my mother yelled. “Fine! But grandma, just know, I hate you.” I replied. I went to my room, angrily.

I suddenly heard noises from outside. I peaked out outside and saw my home land being ambushed, I was only a few years old, I  couldn’t do anything to help, I was useless. 

Humans came with trucks and cages and kidnapped most of the chimpanzees and some of my kind. One human climbed my tree with a cage and grabbed me. The human threw me in the cage and locked it. The human climbed down and put me in a truck full of chimps and all of them tried to grab me.

​A day later the truck doors opened one last time and we were put in the back of some shop, there were already monkeys there and it was a cold morning. One of the monkeys looked like me but she was big. She looked at me then laughed. Some big man walked in and took two cages, one had my grandma. I heard them screech then silence. The monkey I was looking at was asking if one was a relative. “One of em your family?” “Yeah, the second one was my grandma” “sorry for your loss” “not really a loss, she tried to raid my home with her new group after she left me and my family” “oh” “yep” “well I can get out, you wanna escape with me?” the monkey asked. “Yeah” I replied “Ok then”

​It was close to dark and then my new monkey friend unlatched her cage, walked over to mine and unlocked it. I jumped down from my cage and we quietly ran out the door and exited the building. We were running across a highway when my friend got hit by a truck. “Are you ok!?” “You have to keep going, hurry!” she said faintly I rushed across the highway and kept running. It took forever, two days to get home. But there were still humans. One captured me and put me in the back of his truck then drove and drove. A week later the man let me go in some forest, then a family of monkeys came and took me in. I was safe, with my new family, in a beautiful forest. After three years I made a friend. His name is Jerry and is an albino squirrel monkey and we’ve been friends since, I haven't told him my story, I just told him I was dropped here by humans since my old home was raided.
